This is my full review of The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy in which I attempt to review all 100 endings in the game. So far it's easily my favorite game of 2025.
The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy has been the game I’ve been waiting for from Too Kyo Games ever since they were founded several years ago. Both Kazutaka Kodaka and Kotaro Uchikoshi are some of my favorite game creators of all time and the idea that they were going to collab on a game made me super excited. Technically they already did several years ago with World’s End Club, but that was a smaller budget Apple Arcade game and Kodaka was just a creative director on it. Once this game was announced as their first fully self funded game and that they wanted to make something insane enough to have 100 endings I was completely sold. It took them so much time to put it together they kept talking about how if it didn’t do well then they would go bankrupt because they spent all of their money trying to make it happen.
Thankfully, it did sell well and they’re no longer in the red. Hundred Line kinda floored me by the end, not every route and ending in the game is good but I think the sheer ambition to try something like this is commendable and a majority of what’s in the game is pretty good. The good heavily outweighs the bad by the end and honestly this will probably end up being my favorite game of 2025.
Before getting into full spoilers for the various endings of the game, I want to talk about the non spoiler stuff first. The combat in this game is fairly good, it’s simple but every character is unique but it’s also sorely lacking in variety. You fight across so many of the same fields against the same enemies that it can start to get old quick. Thankfully there’s long stretches of story between battles so it feels less repetitive. There’s also exploration segments where you get materials for gift crafting and move along a little board game, it’s interesting at first but this is also can get a bit tedious especially when you hit routes that require you to do it a lot. Thankfully they have since patched the game to let you skip more battles in the second playthrough after fighting them once and you can skip some of the more redundant exploration segments too. This definitely helps cut down on how tedious they can be, and it makes doing route cleanup a breeze since you’re mostly doing story segments.
Another part of the gameplay is choosing what to do with your free time. Talking with people will raise your stats, you can run practice battles, explore to get items, and after the common route you can hangout with people to unlock parts of their backstory and you raise their relationship rank by giving them gifts. The biggest issue with this is that if you start going for a lot of endings then you just run out of stuff to do. I think I had Takumi sleep most of the time and I wish you could just skip free time once you do everything.
Apart from the gameplay, I like the presentation overall. The character designs are great and the environments look good enough, they can just start to get a little bland after going thorough all of the endings but that’s understandable considering just how many there are. On the music front it’s pretty good but the game desperately needed more music. Even in just the common route I started to get tired of some of the tracks. The licensed song used at the end of the common route was really good though, I loved how it kinda came out of nowhere but it’s used in an incredibly good way all throughout the game.
Now the rest of this review is going to be reviewing every single ending in the game in the order that I got them. After a bit I decide to just clear out each route of endings as I get to them but one of the routes takes me awhile to get back to. Full spoilers below this point.
Thoughts on the Common Route
I really loved the common route for this game and I wasn’t expecting it to be the full 100 days. All of the mysteries kept piling up and I genuinely had no idea what was going on by the end. For some reason I didn’t see Eito being a traitor coming despite him using a scythe as a weapon and being kind of suspicious. At this point I still enjoyed the combat and exploration bits and they only get really tiring once you hit the second route. The final part where you use Takumi’s specialist skill to turn back time was an incredible good twist, along with them naming the next part of the game “Hundred Line 2”. Incredibly strong start to the game.

Calling the second part "Hundred Line 2" is very good
075: Slasher Route: Kyoshika’s Last Wish
For my playthrough this was the first ending I got upon getting past the prologue. Having this route go the way of a zombie invasion was both interesting and a bit of whiplash coming off of the intro. It didn’t give me any of the answers I was looking for, but as a piece of character drama it was pretty good. The tension of them trying to find the cause of what’s going on was fun and the game introducing a bizarre parasite as the cause was more interesting than something like a disease. It was fitting that this ending only has Takumi survive, with Kyoshika sacrificing herself at the end. It’s bleak, but also the type of ending you see in stories like this. I did really like the twist of how they beat the Supreme Commander by using the zombies. Overall, pretty good and it did get me into the groove for what to expect from the rest of the game.
076: Slasher Route: History Repeating
While 75 was a fitting end to this zombie story, the implications of 76 are really interesting. Takumi gets infected by a parasite that takes over his body and starts talking to him. I wanted a bit more from the G’ei and exactly how they fit into the greater story, but this happening right before the missiles go off makes it so they’re cut off prematurely. More interesting than 75 and made me question some stuff and how it all works together.
017: Conspiracy Route: Plans Exposed
After getting endings 75 and 76 first, I decided to swing over to the other end of the flowchart by sparing Eito this time. As I navigated through the various character deaths I finally arrived at something resembling a new story. It’s funny that Takumi starts taking the red pill and believing a grand conspiracy that’s going on. But this is a pretty quick bad end because he gets sold out and Sirei kills him. I know they said there would be no “cheap death” endings in this game, and I can KINDA understand this not being considered one, but it still felt lame that it ended so quickly. Then again with 100 endings it’s expected that there’s gonna be a few endings like this. I just didn’t expect Hiruko to sell him out so quickly after she thought something was up with him days prior.
021: Conspiracy Route: Liar
This route just has a lot of bad endings if you’re not able to convince people. This time Nozomi realizes Takumi’s hesitation and Gotoh blows him up.
022: Conspiracy Route: Lambs to the Slaughter
Pretty underwhelming, everyone boards a bus to Second-to-Last Defense Academy and credits roll. Gotoh lying about a lot of what they said was kinda obvious and this seems like punishment for blindly believing him
020: Conspiracy Route: Faltering Resolve
Sirei dual wielding cattle prods is pretty funny. Takumi dies again.
019: Conspiracy Route: Out of Ideas
Sirei just kills Kurara and Takumi after overhearing them planning to attack him. Also underwhelming. No wonder it’s called “Out of Ideas”.
018: Conspiracy Route: Empty Words
Gotoh kills Takumi and Kurara for not joining them. Yeah
017: Conspiracy Route: Just a Test?
Takumi dies again due to not wanting to help the Anti-Exodus Faction. Yeah
015: Conspiracy Route: A Fair Point
Takumi dies again cause he doesn’t take the red pill. Idk there’s some kinda joke in there. And that’s all for this route! Pretty weird distraction but maybe it’ll have implications later down the line?
Note from the future: Wow I just got all 100 endings and this shit doesn’t matter at all.

Kinda on the nose
001: Last Defense Academy 2nd Scenario: Farewell, Last Defense Academy
This seems to be the “primary” scenario for what the game calls Hundred Line 2. A majority of the mysteries set up in the prologue are answered and honestly, I really liked what they did here. I didn’t see the whole thing about them being on another planet or everyone being fake clones coming and the way they handled the ending was great. It’s a lot sadder than I was expecting, but the final scene of Nozomi being the only survivor and finding some of the other citizens of the planet was so well done. All of the characters that are still alive get extra bonding events once they find out the truth which is great, the only downside is that I wish the characters that died could’ve gotten more in it. Eva especially feels like she was done dirty and I’m excited to get to a route where she’s not lobotomized. Sirei was a pretty good character and a lot of what he does makes sense once you get the reveal of how his AI works, I’m glad I got to see more of him this time since he doesn’t just die (even if he is a prick a lot of the time). Overall if this was the only other route in the game I would still be satisfied, but I got a ton of more endings to see and will hopefully get even more questions and answers.
002: Reset: Welcome to Last Defense Academy
The opposite choice from ending 001 leading to them resetting their memories to forget the tragedy of killing the entire planet worth of people is bleak but fitting as an alternate end for the story. They even go as far as to rewrite a couple of the characters, so they don’t have big flaws (Eito loves humanity lol). I liked it as an alternate ending to the other but it’s also weird that they call this one ending the “Reset Route”.
073: Slasher Route: Kurara’s Last Stand
Finally getting back to the slasher route and I really like the implication that underneath the aliens’ control they still have some semblance of consciousness. It was pretty interesting and gave me new stuff to think about regarding 75 and 76. I’m glad I could let Kurara live at the end.
074: Slasher Route: Flight of the Living Dead
Killing Kurara leads to all of them boarding the escape pod to attack the artificial satellite. Kinda weird that they all did that but since this is a weird alien hive mind it makes sense that they’d want to go get more people and survive. Also, with this route the escape pod keeps leaving at night on Day 100, which is a weird oversight for the route.
072: Slasher Route: Goodbye Kiss
Now this is feeling like an actual Slasher Route. Now that there’s no more Zombies it’s answering the mystery of what the fuck was going on with Takumi and I really didn’t expect this to connect back to ending 76 so directly, where somehow Takumi’s G’ie infected brain was able to come back with him to the start of Day 2. I’m not quite sure what implications this has for the rest of the game but considering Uchikoshi was the overall “Route Director” I can make a few guesses, but I’ll wait until I hop onto one of the routes he wrote before solidifying any ideas. The last shot with Hiruko was real sweet and this does confirm an early theory I had about her also remembering other timelines. Overall pretty interesting and I’m happy this game lets me skip battles I’ve played so I can focus on the story when cleaning these routes up.
071: Slasher Route: Revenge
Quick bad end since Takumi doesn’t learn the truth behind what’s happening and is killed by Nozomi. Not much else going on in this one.
069: Slasher Route: It Was You
Takumi dying and you playing as Nozomi was a really cool surprise for this ending. It does jump from the point you start playing as her to the ending REAL quick, but I guess it makes sense that they’d do that since this would get really repetitive. It’s always funny when making one choice in a visual novel leads to a route that doesn’t seem possible. Since Takumi was the killer last time he can’t really do that here when he’s dead. This ending doesn’t show their face so I don’t know who could possibly be behind the mask. Oh and I also found it weird that the killer’s buzz saw can just cut through straight metal since they destroyed the escape pod before this. Kinda weird but also makes sense for a threatening slasher villain.

Wow, it really is perfect
070: Slasher Route: The Three of Us
This time they kill the killer by launching them through the wall of fire. It’s a pretty basic ending where we don’t find out the killer’s identity, but it ended on an optimistic note. Kinda hope Nozomi gets another section in the game where she’s a protagonist because it could be pretty interesting from a story angle, just feels kinda wasted here with how short it was. Also with that I finished the Slasher Route, kinda anti-climactic but I feel like some of the stuff here is set up for another route or something since there’s still several unanswered questions.
042: Cult of Takumi Route: Living Idol
So far this is in the running for the most “uncomfortable” route in the game. Takumi takes some drugs to help motivate everyone and now they all are madly in love with him and worship him like a god. Seeing everyone’s personality change like this got kinda unnerving and the constant praise they give Takumi throughout the entire route swung from being cringe to creepy. It starts off as kinda silly and funny but then you see the cult start to form and it starts to get weird. This is also where the fanservice comes into play with some of the things the characters request of Takumi gets kinda ridiculous, Eva’s in particular was kinda insane. This one ends on Takumi getting paralyzed, everyone killing Nozomi, and the Eito yaoi CG and I think it would be insane to get this as your first alternate route.
041: Cult of Takumi Route: Overlord
Watching Takumi let the cult under him get into his head and accepting the role of a supreme leader really shows how despite him having good intentions he can really let himself be carried away by the flow. So far after 20 endings I’ve really grown on Takumi, he can be a complete idiot but also step up to the plate when he needs to. I really liked how this route showed the general feeling of dread he had when he failed to save everyone the first time and tries to convince himself that he’s doing the right thing despite him stripping every one of their individuality and needs for the sake of the mission and it falling out of his hands completely (while still trying to convince himself that all of this is okay). It feels like a follow up to all of his fears and anxieties from the common route. The grief of losing Karua/Nozomi in the first route can lead to him acting selfishly, after she gets brainwashed in this ending, he ends up sleeping with Nozomi and sees her as a replacement for his childhood friend. Overall, this route started funny but became pretty uncomfortable by the end, but gave some really great writing for Takumi as a character.

This route starts funny until it gets unsettling
078: Comedy Route: Stupidest Ending Ever
I’m really glad this game has a non-serious comedy route. Most of it was pretty funny and I like that Takumi doesn’t have the memory of stuff that happened in the last few weeks so everyone’s busting his ball on all of the stupid shit he did.
077: Comedy Route: It All Worked Out?
I think Sirei telling me to suck shit and die mad is the hardest I’ve laughed the entire game lmao
079: Comedy Route: Burned Out
This part of the branch was unfortunately not as funny as the other ones, but the Ashita no Joe reference got a chuckle.
080: Comedy Route: Okay. I. See.
Takumi you are so, SO stupid.
081: Comedy Route: At My Limit
Glad this branch of the route was really funny again. Takumi just randomly exploding when he acts like a smart ass was a pretty good bit and this ending has him crashing out in a way that’s really funny. I’ve been playing the game with the English dub and his VA was particularly really funny here.
082: Comedy Route: The Ultimate Slapstick
Not sure why Takumi thought the “Ultimate Slapstick” was getting stuck in the ground, but they just left him there to die afterwards.
083: Comedy Route: No, That’s Wrong
This branch of the comedy route isn’t as funny as the others, but I did chuckle at the fish puns. The biggest issue with the Fish branch is that there’s just WAY too much free time which acts as filler between story events. At this point I have my characters upgraded and have seen all of the bonding events so there’s nothing else for me to do but sleep to move time forward. Also I’m glad they gave Takumi a fish head on his 3D model, that caught me by surprise.
084: Comedy Route: Mother Ocean
Takumi sits on the beach yearning to return to the ocean. Once again not really funny just ridiculous.

The English VA did a great job on this scene
025: Box of Blessings Route: Blessed With a Miricle
This was okay I guess. The lore of the boxes kinda comes out of nowhere and they use them to bring back both Kyoshika and Darumi. I’m glad that this is starting to flesh out the setting a bit which is what I needed after the low stakes comedy route. Also getting little hints of more characterization for Gaku and different characterization for Kako was nice. Hoping the rest of the endings for this route flesh stuff out a bit more.
026: Box of Blessings Route: Cursed With Calamity
Yeah this was a super obvious bad ending and everyone goes crazy and starts killing each other. Doesn’t really elaborate on anything else except for what the calamity boxes do.
027: Box of Blessings Route: Gaku’s Harem
Just as I was starting to like some of the characterization they were giving Gaku here, he pulls this shit of wishing for a harem. This route variation is just 90% the same as the last one but with the less interesting exclusive events. Mostly boring and this ending was real stupid.
028: Box of Blessings Route: The Value of Trust
Wow that was awful. Eito just leaves with the boxes and that’s it? These two route variations are incredibly similar and just aren’t very good. It’s real funny that Takumi keeps thinking he should’ve trusted Gaku when we know that he wishes for some stupid shit. Granted everyone did live so I guess that could be seen as good. What’s weird is how different Eito acts in this section compared to the other, but that might be because everyone else had the boxes this time around even if that ended up changing nothing.
029: Box of Blessings Route: A Brighter Future
There’s some good stuff for Shouma here, but a majority of this route is exactly the same as the previous one and just feels like a drag. The exact same scenes and exploration segments with slightly different characters and almost no variation besides that. It dragged incredibly hard and this is shaping up to be my least favorite route in the game.
030: Box of Blessings Route: Never Forget
This time Eito isn’t there for some reason (but also at this point I started skipping text when it seems like there’s nothing new so maybe I missed something) and just Shouma dies. It then tells us via a text box that the war went on for decades until they signed a peace agreement. That’s it? We get no sort of visual to show us this or any more descriptions and that’s it.
EDIT: I went back to replay it and V’ehxness just mentions that she killed him offhandedly. Not like it really matters though.
031: Box of Blessings Route: Better Off Without
There’s some cool lore stuff in this! Like what Sirei stands for and some of the cryptoglobin stuff. But the rest of it is the same shit as the rest of the route with the big difference being Eito and the Supreme Commander acting weird. Then it ends on the exact same CG as ending 29. Whatever man.

I have no screenshots from the Box of Blessings Route, so enjoy this
032: Box of Blessings Route: Something Inside
Upon finishing the Box of Blessings route I decided to look up the writer for it, it’s the only one they did for the game. I didn’t recognize the name Ukyou Kodachi and I saw the only VN I recognized that they worked on was Fate/EXTELLA LINK so I looked them up on Wikipedia. I was completely gob smacked when I saw they were the writer for volumes 1-13 of Boruto, the manga sequel to Naruto. All of a sudden everything made sense. This route is incredibly mind numbing to the point where I stopped playing the game as much as I had been in the last 20 or so days. This should have been, at most, a single route with no branches aside from two endings. You could easily fit all of the reveals in that amount of time and not lose anything. Anyways I think that was a G’ei in the box? Maybe that’s why both Eito and V’ehxness went crazy. Hopefully I’ll find out in a route with more value than this.
013: Serial Battles Route: The War is Over
Having constant battles one after another is exhausting… if you actually have to do them. Right before getting to this route they updated the game to let you skip more battles, and I’m not sure if it’s bugged, but I was able to skip every single battle aside from the final one. It made this route go by kinda quickly, but the final boss is exhausting and easily the hardest fight in the game. Aside from the constant fighting there’s some funny moments when people are getting a battle high and really excited about fighting. The other surprising thing is a device that lets you travel between dimensions which they used to make you fight the bosses over and over. Excited to see how that factors into the other routes.
013: Serial Battles Route: One More Time
Okay, I definitely think this is setting something up. Actually, back in the slasher route there was a mysterious person in a diving suit that was never explained so maybe that will be explained through this. After a fairly mid route, I’m glad to be theorizing stuff again.
043: V’ehxness Route: Making the Impossible Possible
I really loved this route, it finally gives some insight to V’ehxness’ character. She’s depicted as this almighty force that everyone must overcome so getting some of her backstory and actually being able to talk to her really fleshed her out. Also being able to find out how the other commanders see her helped flesh them out a bit more too, even if they don’t get a whole lot. This one ends with her killing everyone and definitely feels like the less ideal one.
044: V’ehxness Route: Here With You
I liked this one more than the other, it feels more bittersweet but both kinda show how V’ehxness can’t be honest with herself because she’s obsessed with her own strength. Takumi trying so hard to connect with her but Tsubasa stabbing her by going through him ends up eventually killing them both. I liked that she justifies her actions because Takumi picked her to sacrifice herself (which lets be honest is the stupidest possible pick for the sacrifice choice). The final scene with them holding hands in the forest was fantastic. This is probably one of my favorite routes in the game so far and I’m glad we can get more insight into some of the antagonists.
![]() |
She gets one of the best routes
033: Box of Calamity Route: Night of Despair
This was super confusing since Takumi just passes out for 70 days then is killed by Kako. She mentions wanting to eat a frog which I remember Takumi wanting to do in some other route but I can’t remember exactly when. I wanna say the Slasher route, which has interesting implications with what’s going on with Kako.
034: Box of Calamity Route: Hollow Victory
Okay NOW what happened in Ending 33 makes more sense. This gives more lore to the G’ie that come up in the Slasher Route and also touches upon the dimension leap machine that’s mentioned in the Serial Battles route. Hiruko sending Kako to another timeline might explain what happens in the Slasher route with the extra person they kept running into. There’s also another Eito that was tossed somewhere in a route that I still have to find. Also, this confirms via some lore that the G’ie queen eats frogs because the frogs typically eat larva from other G’ie and that’s how she can lay more eggs. This gives a bit more context to some stuff that happened earlier. Overall, I really liked a lot of the setup and story beats in this route even if they make Shouma look even more like an idiot. Hiruko having memories of other timelines will definitely play out more in some other route, but as for now this was so much better than the Blessings route. I really hope they explain what are in the Boxes of Blessings at some point though. I’m just glad I didn’t have to do constant exploration segments this time.
035: Box of Calamity Route: Misguided Pity
Takumi couldn’t admit that Nozomi was the killer so he decides it should just end here. Not much else is reviled in this except seeing further just how close the G’ie can replicate someone’s personality.
036: Box of Calamity Route: Exorcize Plan
AKA Takumi becomes incredibly stupid to hang out with Gaku. I guess it worked though since no one else died. Nozomi seemed a bit sick so maybe this stuff works on the G’ie? Maybe it’ll come up in another route.
037: Box of Calamity Route: Blood on my Hands
Glad to get a bit more of Eva’s backstory in this route and watching Takumi’s complete mental degradation was interesting. In the other part of this route there was obviously something up with his mental state but he was able to overcome it, however now he starts hallucinating big time. I liked how creepy this branch ended up being, the scene where G’ie Nozomi stops pretending and just tries to kill Takumi was great. If you ended up on this branch first it can really trip you up on what’s real or not.
038: Box of Calamity Route: Ghost Unmasked
Now the ghost that kept coming up in this route makes sense and it makes me wonder if the ability for Takumi to make an avatar is gonna come up again at all or if it’s just here because of his guilty conscience. I thought his mental state was gonna be caused by something else, so it was interesting that it was just the weight of guilt put on him and it makes sense that in other endings the ghost just goes away since he stops wallowing in guilt.
040: Box of Calamity Route: Echoes of the Dead
I ended up forgetting that Nozomi is possessed for most of this route so I did get a bit surprised when she just kills Takumi. After that I assume he created a hemoanima avatar and imagined a best ending where everyone survives. I think this would hit harder if I didn’t get the reveal she was already possessed, but that’s the nature of these games with free choices. Still pretty creepy.
039: Box of Calamity Route: One Step at a Time
Honestly didn’t expect this route to have one of the more hopeful endings in the game, but this was pretty good. I liked how Takumi stayed behind because he felt an obligation to tell the village about everything Eva was able to do for them. Also getting a bit of characterization for non-lobotomized Eva was great. The ghost that confronts the second to last commander still isn’t explained, but hopefully it gets touched on somewhere else. This route as a whole was pretty good and is so much better than its counterpart for the Boxes of Blessings. I didn’t have to do any pointless exploration segments, and I liked the bits of lore and set up for other routes in the game. Still have no idea what the Boxes of Blessings really are, and I don’t think they’re ever gonna explain them.

Box of Calamity connects to some of the routes where you Kill Eito
003: Goodbye Eito Route: Praying for your Happiness
This is easily one of my favorite endings in the whole game. I really liked having the perspective shift to Eito and getting his errant thoughts after leaving the academy. So far I haven’t seen a lot of the natives from this planet, aside from the bosses, show up so it was cool getting the perspective from children even if it was only for a short time. The final scene of this ending, where right before he detonates the bomb he has, his fake memories that Sirei implanted into him kick in and they’re of him and the others having fun was a real gut punch. He’s a pretty great character all things considered and this ending really did help elevate him for me.
005: Rebellion Route: My War
I was pretty excited when first starting this route because Kamyuhn was mentioned in a few other routes but now we finally get to see her. Unfortunately, they kinda speedrun her by becoming a part of the group. We don’t get a lot of info about the rebel faction and any of the lore surrounding them. This ending has Kamyuhn die to save Nozomi, and she builds a school with Takumi while humans are still waging war against the planet. I feel with a bit of fleshing out this could’ve been more interesting. Also, what the hell is up with the bosses just exploding out of nowhere? It feels like it’s been happening more and more.
Halfway Point
Well here we are, I’ve gotten 50 endings in Hundred Line so far. When this game was advertised as having 100 endings that could all be considered as “true endings” I figured that would be hyperbolic and I was right. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve hit some really fantastic routes and endings so far with only a few stinkers, but I wouldn’t be satisfied with ending the game at most of the endings I’ve gotten. My favorite routes so far are easily Truth, Slasher, and V’ehxness. They’ve provided the most intrigue and have given a lot of depth to the different parts. Slasher was most surprising since there’s actually a ton of lore for the planet hidden in there and feels way different from a lot of the game tonally.
My least favorites so far are Box of Blessings and Serial Battles. The Box of Blessings route is mind numbingly boring at times since they stretch out all of its reveals on incredibly similar branches filled with monotonous exploration segments. Most of the endings feel dumb and pointless, and it was so boring it killed my drive to play the game for a few days. Serial Battles on the other hand is just battle after battle, which granted I didn’t have to play, and nothing really interesting happened until the reveal of a machine that lets you warp dimensions which will 100% be used in other routes.
Overall, the game has been a ton of fun so far and is on track to being my game of the year for 2025. The only thing I’m a bit disappointed on is the music. I love Masafumi Takada and his work, but these tracks feel mostly subdued compared to his tracks for the Danganronpa series. I didn’t realize at first that my favorite track in the game, the one that plays in the battle at the end of the common route, was a licensed song but it was a great choice since it fits so well. Hoping to hit some routes that flesh out the cast even more since I think most of them are great, even if Shouma and Gaku kinda suck most of the time. Oh and the gameplay has been decent enough but I’m glad they let you skip repeated battles because it’s not in depth enough to do constant fighting.
Also, at this point I started using a spoiler free guide to see what routes I end up on and I decided to save the routes written by Uchikoshi for last since they apparently deal with a lot of the lore and ideas set up past the common route. I’d rather get bits and pieces of what the full picture is instead of getting it all at once then the routes just regurgitate the same info piecemeal. I think this will make it a bit more interesting.
006: Rebellion Route: Seeds of Hope
Unlike ending 5, if you save Kamyuhn it takes 15 years for the war to finally stop and they are about to reach peace, but Takumi doesn’t feel happy because Nozomi isn’t there. This one is fine, but I also wonder why Kamyuhn has class armor in the final scene.
004: Rebellion Route: Failed Alliance
I didn’t expect this to be such a quick bad end. Everyone dies and Takumi goes on the run for years while radiation and chemical warfare reign on the planet. Kinda just feels a bit filler-y like some of the conspiracy endings.
007: Eva Route: Thank You
A route I’ve really wanted was one for Eva so I’m glad there is one. Getting to see her interact with people without being brainwashed actually gave me some insight into her character, she’s incredibly caring and smart. The romance subplot with Takumi went by really quickly and was mostly offscreen, but it was done well enough. I really liked the final clash she had with V’ehxness, where she could draw out her full power because she now had a reason to fight. Pretty good for what it is, and I hope she gets more somewhere else of course.
008: Eva Route: The Wanderers
Ending this on a CG of Eva walking through the desert while pregnant is insane. Kind of a melancholic ending all things considered, I just felt like I got a shotgun blast when I saw the ending visual.
![]() |
Seeing this was like a shotgun blast to the chest
009: Multiple Eitos Route: Endurance Match
Wow this quickly became one of my favorite routes in the game. Eito sticking around inside of Takumi’s head trying to take over was a really fun concept and gives some really good dialogue between the two of them. This ending has him constantly kill himself in an attempt to completely get rid of Eito. It ends with Eito ultimately winning and that smirk coming across on Takumi’s face has made this one of the more disturbing routes so far.
010: Multiple Eitos Route: Together Forever
Instead of constantly killing himself Takumi just gives up which leads to Eito wanting to stick around in his head for the rest of his life. Eito saying he’s gonna be there to give commentary if Takumi ever falls in love was pretty funny.
011: Multiple Eitos Route: Eternal Hate
Eito guessing that Takumi would check his room for the ghost Eito was kinda insane, doubly so since he told some of the others to meet them in said room so Takumi would kill them. Then choosing to have Takumi give into the hate so he goes around just killing everyone. This branch really just shows how clever Eito can be.
012: Multiple Eitos Route: A Tragic End
This route has multiple endings that come up pretty quick, but unlike the conspiracy route these are actually interesting at least. The final ending I got has everyone kill Takumi before Eito can take over which is probably the best ending possible for this awful situation. This route was great to get some more dialogue and interactions between Takumi and Eito without overstaying it’s welcome.
024: Casual Route: Embrace Fantasy
This starts off as a fairly simple slice of life route, but it was really obvious that something was wrong with Takumi. I didn’t expect him to be stuck in a weird brainwash induced coma. Some of the scenarios he ends up in are a bit funny and others are a bit boring. In this one he has a mundane dream of everyone drinking milk together. Not really much else to say but the blue and red pill thing at the end was really on the nose.
023: Casual Route: Face Reality
Instead of going into the dream Takumi decides to come back and face reality. Everyone is dead and he goes out fighting. Nothing else to really say about the route, it was entertaining but didn’t offer much outside of that. I feel like a lot of the routes that branch off of the 2ndScenario Route actually have this problem, since if you get to the first ending you have a majority of the games reveals so there’s nothing that can trick you into thinking something else since you already know the truth.

062: Romance Route: Dream Come True 1
This is by far the funniest place to put the romance route. You’re about to get some major revelations but then trying to kiss Hiruko leads to both of them dying and losing their memories. Also Takumi had a dream about kissing three different girls and they all had the same dream so now it’s turned into a romance contest between the three. Kurara’s route is mainly them just watching a bunch of movies together. I liked it overall, their banter was funny and seeing another side of Kurara was nice. It’s just a weird spot for a romance route so I was kinda taken back when it started off like this but I think that’s also the point. Also that edit I saw of Takumi and Kurara as the RedLetterMedia guys makes sense now haha.
061: Romance Route: Dream Come True?
This is just the same as 62 but Takumi kisses her foot instead of her mouth. I guess this is cool if you’re a foot freak?
063: Romance Route: Dream Come True 2
Getting to hang out with Kyoshika more was nice since a lot of the routes I’ve done recently have had her dead. I already knew a lot about her backstory due to the bonding events, but it was nice getting a bit more insight into her character. The picnic scene was really sweet and this ending having a Dragon Ball reference at the end was cute. Overall this wasn’t too bad even if the constant training days got a bit repetitive.
064: Romance Route: Dream Come True 3
This was the cutest one. I feel like it works the best as a concept for this game having a romance route because Takumi and Tsubasa have the most chemistry (aside from him and Nozomi for obvious reasons) and it lead into it naturally. Overall this route was decent, I think it gave some more characterization for the three characters that you can romance and it was amusing at times. Still an absolutely insane place to insert this route at.
065: Romance Route: How I Feel
Yeah this ended how I expected with Nozomi rejecting him. Not much else to say.
066: Romance Route: Consolation
It’s funny how Takumi gained some self-awareness and asked why the hell he was doing this while invaders were attacking while complaining that he’s the only one having to make the choices all the time.
068: Romance Route: Graduation Day
Okay I didn’t think I’d have to fight the final boss in this route, so this was a surprise. Continuing their romance game after this kinda makes sense since they didn’t really spend a lot of time together. Funny how this is one of the more positive endings in the game but it’s also weird that Eva was nowhere to be found.
067: Romance Route: Living the Dream
Yeah of course he wasn’t gonna get a harem ending. The image with all of them in the same outfit reminded me of the bad ending of Danganronpa 1 and it was funny to see Takumi sprawled out on the floor afterwards.

045: Coming-of-Age Route: Howdy Neighbor
I figured lying about Nozomi’s past would lead to a quick bad ending and I was right. It is funny how Eito was happy about getting a new neighbor.
048: Coming-of-Age Route: Best Friend
This route starts off incredibly cool, with Takumi sacrificing himself to set off the bomb by cutting himself in half. Then there’s great character moments with the training montage. However, I think how half the team immediately turns on Takumi was kinda bad because it comes out of nowhere. Like, I don’t know, I’m not sure they’d just turn on him that quickly even if Eito was sowing the seeds of deceit. Outside of that awkward development, I like some of the other stuff that Shion (or in this route, “FB”) gets. This feels like a counterpart to the 2nd Scenario Route where some of the beats are similar (Shion joining the team, Takumi and Nozomi’s relationship progressing, etc.) but it all goes downhill really fast. Outside of some awkward pacing towards the end, I liked it quite a bit. It was also super obvious that Eito was lying the whole time cause I believe it was said in another route that brainwashing didn’t work on him, but the final confrontation with him wasn’t bad.
047: Coming-of-Age Route: Bittersweet Youth
Okay now I liked this ending a lot more. Takumi’s sudden confession convinced everyone else to join back with the SDU (no idea why they don’t help out during ending 48) then they all stand in a circle to power up with the power of friendship. This ending was pretty cheesy but also fits the more shounen anime esque themes that were really present in the route. Defeating Eito with the insert song playing in the background was pretty great too. It doesn’t quite make up for how quickly people turned on him earlier, but it definitely made me like this route way more.
046: Coming-of-Age Route: Unending Nightmare
As I suspected this was a quick bad end where Nozomi dies and they lose the war. Overall I liked this routes take on the events of the second scenario and it had at least one ending that I really liked.

052: Retsnom Route: Too Late for Regrets
After how often Darumi tends to die early on in Hundred Line’s routes, I’m glad she becomes a primary character for one of them. Takumi also comes off like a dickhead at the beginning since he’s selfishly letting the other students of Second to Last Defense Academy to die. I was beginning to think I already hit all of this planet’s lore throughout the two Box routes so I’m glad there’s still a little nugget of information to get. The Retsnom itself is really weird looking and I specifically chose to release it as is since I figured I’d hit a quick bad ending if I did.
051: Retsnom Route: It’s all your Fault
This is another quick bad ending, but I do like that you get to see Darumi drop her mask just a bit and get a feeling for just how much self-loathing she has. Kinda weird that the Retsnom would just knock the two of them out to go eat everyone else though, thinking maybe it spared them since they let it out in the first place? I’m just glad the Retsnom ended up being different from the G’ie, I was worried they’d end up being the same thing.
049: Retsnom Route: We Are One
I’m kind of a sucker for the “seemingly good ending is actually very bittersweet” so I really liked this one. They were only able to bring everybody back by making them apart of the Retsnom and it makes it even more bittersweet when I realized this ending stems from Takumi lying to himself that Darumi was still herself. This route turning into body horror didn’t surprise me, but the new lore surrounding Retsnom did. I liked the twist of the Retsnom absorbing someone and taking their place, only to kill itself once it realizes that it’s not a “real” person. Then along with this ending being Darumi wanting to absorb everyone at the end so there will be no more fighting made it unsettling.
050: Retsnom Route: How Darumi Felt
This is easily one of my favorite routes in the game. Darumi finally gets a lot to work with, which almost makes up for her dying so early in most of the routes. Seeing her drop her mask a bit and find out more about her through her interactions with Takumi really propelled her into one of my favorites in the cast. This ending also, possibly, recontextualizes some of her actions towards the end of the route and much like ending 49, makes it kind of sad. Yes it’s technically one of the better endings where almost everyone is alive, but getting there was bittersweet since Takumi had to light himself on fire with undying flames in order to kill her. He speculates a lot about what Darumi was thinking by the end, it’s possible that she was putting on an act to push Takumi into killing her, but he’ll never know. Also it’s implied that they could only get the Ruby Tear through killing the Retsnom, but it’s not something that we can know for sure. Overall one of my favorite routes in the game and I’m glad I got it as one of my last ones.

090: Killing Game Route: The Academy Falls
Now this route was super interesting from the jump. I knew there was a Killing Game Route in the game at some point, I just didn’t think it’d involve the G’ie and people coming in with the protective diving suits. So far, I’ve really enjoyed it despite most of the characters acting really standoffish towards Takumi when they didn’t really do that any of the other times after he killed Eito. The concept feels pretty unique for the game, and I’ve liked finally getting some new combat scenarios to play through. There’s also been some new bits of information like finding out where the escape pod is sealed. Then there’s also the stuff with the other two in diving suits and the weird bacteria that eats metal. Really engaging so far, but this ending is just another quick bad ending where the school goes down if you don’t let Moko sacrifice herself.
092: Killing Game Route: As Good as Dead
Since it seemed like I was on the critical path for the route, I decided to go back and clean up bad endings. This is another quick one where Takumi dies because he’s paranoid about trusting people. If there was a route where there was a lot of bad endings where you die then it makes sense it would be the Killing Game Route so I’m not too disappointed by how quick these are.
091: Killing Game Route: Round 1 Loser
This ending also has the problem where it feels like everyone turned on Takumi way too quickly, so they just lock him up and let him die by the giant wasps. Also, it’s weird how he lost this round when Shouma was the one that was not participating at all in the main route. Kinda feels like a weird oversight.
089: Killing Game Route: Battle for Eva’s Points
I thought the way Eva was acting at the beginning of this route was incredibly weird, but the dynamic between her and Nozomi for this stretch was really good. Them seeing each other’s memories and developing a mother daughter relationship was a good way to see other sides of their personalities. This continues to be a really solid route and this ending was yet another quick ending because in order for Nozomi to live, Eva will have to die.
088: Killing Game Route: Escaping our Fate
Was not expecting this route to have a romance element to it, not only that the romance with Tsubasa feels like it’s handled way better than it was in the actual romance route. It feels like her and Takumi’s relationship develops pretty naturally over this stretch and it was pretty nice. Also didn’t expect to see Kamyuhn here either, and she has some good interactions with the cast so far. So far this is my favorite “bad” end of the route, it’s really tragic that despite trying, Tsubasa still dies. Glad it wasn’t just a quick bad end.
085: Killing Game Route: A Cruel End for Kamyuhn
Another bad ending where Kamyuhn dies. I didn’t think attacking the sponsor was the right decision since they have solid defenses, but I guess I was wrong.
086: Killing Game Route: So Close and yet so Far
This is another bad ending and honestly not really sure how to feel about it. Takumi deciding to take the baby’s cryptoglobin but then being told by Shion that he can’t go with them felt a tad out of left field. I guess it makes sense since he was sick for most of the route, but I feel like he’d have a bit more empathy for what they were going for. I did like Takumi not getting off of the escape pod because of how bad he wanted to stay with his friends, which unfortunately lead to all of them dying. Oh and also I completely forgot about the “bloodspace” that he brought up. It kinda came out of nowhere and I hope they expand on exactly what the hell it is.
087: Killing Game Route: Hope from Despair
Killing Game Route is probably one of my favorites in the game. Some of the set up is convoluted, but I think this final stretch was really good. Yugamu, Darumi, and Tsubasa get some pretty great stuff in this one, it’s probably Yugamu and Tsubasa’s best routes and Darumi’s second best, and I thought this final ending was really solid. I think this route feels one of the most “complete” in the game, and by that I mean it feels like you get enough reveals and story beats that will make it a fantastic second route for someone to go on. I totally called the second sponsor being Eito from another timeline, but we didn’t really get any new info from him regarding how he was able to take over so I’m hoping the final two routes I have will help answer it. My favorite part of this route was it going from incredibly hopeless to being generally a happy ending by the end. Surprised Kodaka didn’t write this one since he wrote Danganronpa, but I’m glad a route like this could end up in the game.

093: Mystery Route: Lost in Darkness
Decided to save Uchikoshi’s routes for my final two in the game. Once I hit the Story Lock in this one I started going back to get some of the alternate endings. I like that this is set up as a murder mystery and it’s so obvious that he didn’t want to deal with the defensive battles or the 100 day structure so Takumi just passes out for weeks at a time. It made this route go by REALLY fast. Also every character suddenly gets way smarter since they start going on Uchikoshi’s trademark tangents which made it kinda funny. I thought the mystery aspect was fun even if it was pretty obvious what the solutions are, but at least making everyone alive selectable makes it a bit more difficult than a linear choice. This ending just has Takumi waking up and everyone’s dead, then he dies. Not much else but it was disturbing to see everyone strung up.
097: Mystery Route: Dance in the Purple Flames
The only theory I have on who “X” could be is Kako from one of the Box timelines since she got sent in the dimension machine. Since I picked Takumi he mentioned about his brain damage that causes him to faint and I wonder if they’re going to explain it, but considering it’s Uchikoshi there’s a chance. This ends with Yugamu stabbing Nozomi since she protected Takumi and him and Yugamu falling into the wall of fire which is a pretty brutal way to go.
097: Mystery Route: Terminated Sumino
Much like ending 93, Takumi wakes up and everyone’s dead but you see a few more bodies and Moko and Nozomi are still alive. If you pick Takumi then he gets beheaded by Moko which is pretty gruesome.
094: Mystery Route: Revenge for Moko
If you accuse Moko she runs at Takumi with a knife then Takumi kills her and Nozomi kills him for revenge. Nothing else.
095: Mystery Route: A Kind Heart, Well Done
If you accuse Nozomi she runs into the wall of fire to kill herself and Takumi follows. Definitely feels like these three endings exist to pad out the count a bit.
098: Mystery Route: Pinky Promise
If you silence Eva from saying anything she blows herself up, killing every one. Since this is the last ending before the story lock, I do want to mention some stuff about it. The reveal of a distress code that calls an escape pod was pretty interesting and everyone having a hidden number on their back is something I’m surprised didn’t come up in any other route. Having the final shot before the lock Kurara’s dead body was a dastardly place to end it since I just wanna see what happens next.
099: Mystery Route: X-Plosion
I’ve mentioned in over a dozen of these ending blurbs that I’m hoping the game will eventually explain a few of the lingering mysteries. It makes sense that everything would lead back to Uchikoshi’s routes since he’s also listed as the games route director. To get past the story lock you have to progress a ways into the SF route which is the other one that he wrote. It really feels like everything comes together, both Takumi and Hiruko are trapped in a time loop and they start working together once Takumi remembers the other routes. Now the mysterious people in the diving suits before the slasher route makes a TON of sense along with Takumi losing his murderous intent in some of the routes at the top of the chart and his bizarre brain condition in the Mystery Route. Also the chart being contextualized in the device Hiruko has was really funny. There’s some other things that are starting to click into place but I’m very surprised at how well everything is coming together. Anyway it’s obvious that X is Kako from the timeline where she was tossed into the leap machine and this ending just has her kill you when you give the wrong answer.
100: Mystery Route: Visitors From Day 100
Not sure what route all of the dead characters jumped from, but this ending is by far the happiest one I’ve seen so far despite Kako-G running off somewhere else. I’m excited to see what the end of the SF route looks like, since you have to get this ending to continue.

One of the happier endings in the game
060: S.F. Route: A Form Of Suicide
Like I mentioned in the blurb for Ending 99, the S.F. Route provides a ton of answers for a lot of the weird things that happened in the other routes, this path in particular explains the different branches in the Slasher route where Takumi is either the killer or survivor. I think the only thing that hasn’t been handled well is the idea of “Particle Bacteria” which degrades metal stuff. Now it makes sense how they got it in the Killing Game Route, but I still think it’s used a bit too conveniently as a plot point. Maybe I’d feel better about it if it was brought up more in other routes or even given a better explanation that isn’t “it’s a cosmic coincidence”. Also I find it interesting that they were able to “fix” Eito in this route with the program that fixes brain issues and a bit of brain washing, I’m still a bit skeptical and I wonder if Eva’s daughter is gonna be brought up at all.
057: S.F. Route: The Coward’s Final Days
The new G’ie lore kinda came out of nowhere in this part. Kako-G said that Nozomi is a “variant” which are very delicious for their species so they were going to take her on their space ship back to their home planet. The way we find out that Nozomi is one is that wile Takumi was knocked out there were shards of a meteor that emitted light called a “Triem Ray” which made her start glowing. I don’t remember this EVER coming up in another route which is why this felt really weird. This ending is another bad one where Takumi dies but I guess this new plot element is interesting even if it feels thrown in at the last minute.
058: S.F. Route: The Scent of Lavendar
Probably the most notable thing from this part of the route is that Kako III (who had the G’ie in her) was stitched up by some mysterious person in a silver vehicle according to Hiruko. Not sure what that means since I don’t remember it from any other route but I imagine it will come up somewhere in the rest of this one. A pretty sad ending but at least Takumi got to go our without any regrets.
059: S.F. Route: The Cursed Cycle
This ending is really good. I figured this route had to also lead to Ending 100 where everyone survived. It’s pretty bittersweet since the Takumi this Hiruko knew died but she’ll still try and find a way out of the infinity loop.
056: S.F. Route: Revenge of Kako-G
I absolutely love the concept of Takumi and Hiruko working with themselves from an adjacent timeline to get the rest of the Liver Mortis Codes. It’s a smart way to use the route system and I haven’t gone through a ton of time loop stories but it feels at least a little unique, at least with how they just talk to each other directly. This ending is where Kako-G from the end of the Mystery Route so that’s one last dangling plot thread resolved.
053: S.F. Route: Academy Destroyed
Honestly I should’ve figured that the transmitter wouldn’t actually call a rescue ship and would just completely destroy the school since they don’t want any of their secrets getting out. Nothing much else to say.
054: S.F. Route: One Massacre To Another
I wondered if they were ever going to bring up Eva’s daughter in this route, but it makes sense that she’d want to get revenge after all like on the planet was destroyed. Also the thing about people from the satellite coming down to place a cloned baby in the pod kinda came out of nowhere since they didn’t show up on a bunch of other routes.
055: S.F. Route: All 17 Of Us
And thus that’s my final ending. I heard that Ending 55 was considered the closest thing the game has to a “true end” so I decided to make it my final one. Overall it’s one of my favorites in the game and is easily the best ending for all of the characters. Unfortuntely because they wanted to say that this game doesn’t have a “true ending” this doesn’t have anything like an epilogue to go with it (it does have a special version of the ending song though). This means that anything that wasn’t covered… well isn’t. I think the most glaring thing missing from this ending is everything to due with Eva’s true self and Kamyuhn. It’s not really touched on at all and she’s still brainwashed which is the most unsatisfying thing about this ending. I also noticed at the end that Nozomi’s rejection symptoms didn’t come up a single time in both the Mystery and S.F. routes. There’s other routes where it doesn’t too, but it’s another thing in the game that feels like a plot convenience. Aside from that I’m glad that I made this my final ending, because it wrapped up any lingering questions I had in a nice bow.

And they all survive
Final Thoughts
Hundred Line is a messy, messy game. It has large gameplay issues at
times and not every route/ending ended up being good, however I think
that all of the good outweighs the bad and this ends up being a truly
unforgettable experience. The cast is fantastic and I even liked
generally unlikable characters like Gaku and Shouma a bit by the end.
It’s probably the strongest cast Kodaka has written and it feels
like everyone gets a chance to shine once you start doing a lot of
the routes. This isn’t the strongest stuff Uchikoshi has written,
but his routes have a few threads that they can use as a jumping off
point for future DLC. I think having a bunch of different routes that
dip into various genres make the game feel like an anthology at
times. They can go from being a dumb comedy, a tragic fight for
survival, a shounen anime-esque power of friendship battle, a
heartwarming romance, a sci-fi thriller, and everything in between.
The game does have around 11 writers working on it so the quality can
vary, but this is the kind of thing that you can only really do in
video games and I'm glad that two of my favorite game creators got to
go hog wild and make something really special. Overall it’s a
really fantastic game and probably my Game of the Year for 2025.
